Introduction To The Plasma Car
PlaSmart, a Canadian toy distributor, popularized and branded the PlasmaCar, a plastic ride-on toy automobile created for children.
The Plasma Car is pushed by wriggling the front steering wheel, which is coupled to two pivoting wheels that are in contact with the ground.
It uses natural forces such as inertia, centrifugal force, friction, and gravity to propel the automobile forward and backward.
It doesn’t need batteries, gasoline, pedals, or gears; it just operates on the child’s ability to wriggle the steering wheel. It may be used both indoors and outdoors, although it performs best on a smooth, flat surface.
When used correctly, kids can get up to speeds of 6 mph (10 km)/hr!
How Does A Plasma Car Work?
The Plasma Car is a fantastic riding toy that will greatly enhance each of these skills. Made of exceptionally robust, yet lightweight ABS plastics, this wheeled toy provides your youngster with a smooth and comfy resting surface.
Available in a wide range of bright colors that are guaranteed to please any youngster, with a little practice, any child can ride and maneuver a Plasma Car – though the manufacturer recommends a starting age of 3 years old.
There are no batteries to charge, no gears to change, and no pedals to irritate smaller kids who have not yet perfected using their arms and feet simultaneously as needed by tricycles and other tiny riding toys.
The Plasma Car’s secret is its simplicity of design. It includes six wheels for stability, a comfortable seat, and footrests that face front. To propel the Plasma Car forward, your youngster must continually rotate the steering wheel from left to right.
As your kid is ready to stop, he or she just stops turning the steering wheel, and when the car slows, your child simply places his or her feet on the ground, and the car comes to a complete stop.
If you have a wide flat surface for your children to ride their Plasma Cars on, these vehicles can reach speeds of more than six miles per hour.
Furthermore, the flexible automobiles can readily reverse; simply swap the car’s four front wheels to the rear and shift the bigger back wheels forward to the front of the Plasma Car. The automobile will reverse until the wheels are returned to their original locations.
Are Plasma Cars Safe?
PlasmaCar meets and exceeds all US, Canadian, and European safety standards; CPSIA, CCPSA, ASTM, EN71, ISO and ICTI certified.
Benefits Of The Plasma Car
So why might you consider a PlasmaCar as your child’s ride on toy?
Plasma Car Pros
- No batteries required
- Develops gross motor skills and upper body coordination and control
- Can hold children and even adults up to 220 lbs
Plasma Car Cons
- Riding surfaces must be smooth, which can discount use on carpeted floors, lawned gardens and rough stone driveways
- Can damage your nicely poliched wooden floor boards, careful what surface you use the product on
Plasma Car for Adults
The Plasma Car is a toy that can be enjoyed by the entire family, not just children. Keep in mind that riders cannot weigh more than 220 pounds – though this should be uffice for most adults.
Adult and taller children may striggle a bit at first to get their balance as the toy is sized for a child but rest assured, you can get tour balance and enjoy the fun too!
When you take the Plasma Car out, the entire family may participate by racing each other, taking turns, and just cheering on the rider.
Plasma Cars – A Great Science Lesson!
Despite the fact that the Plasma Car is not driven by the rider’s legs, motor skills are still required. Moving the steering wheel from side to side, believe it or not, increases upper body strength and improves gross motor abilities.
Children must also learn which direction to lean in order to get the maximum or least speed and to avoid falling over while spinning.
As previously explained, the Plasma Car moves using scientific principles. Discuss these forces and responses with your children, such as centrifugal force and friction (though obviously in much simpler language!).
Inquire about additional occasions where similar ideas are applied. You may also make predictions about how long it will take to drive down the driveway and who will be the fastest.
History of The Plasma Car
Timothy Kimber, an Ottawa entrepreneur, found the unique ride-on toy while shopping at an Ottawa retail area in early December 2002.
It was then known as the Fun Car, and it was on display in the mall for youngsters to test drive for free. Kimber, intrigued by the invention, tracked down the Asian distributor and began asking inquiries about the Fun Car.
Kimber realized that, while the Fun Car was popular in China, it was almost unknown in Canada and the United States. Kimber, who was taken aback by the news, pushed to introduce the Fun Car to North America because of its commercial possibilities.
Kimber obtained distribution and marketing rights for the Fun Car in North America after extensive discussions with the distributor. Kimber set out in 2003 to deliver the Fun Car to the North American market.
With around 1,500 ride-on units, Kimber devised a strategy to publicize the toy, beginning with an exhibit at the 2003 Canadian Toy and Hobby Show.
Kimber had generated a company name which is PlaSmart, a website, and marketing materials for the Fun Car, including a sample film, in less than a month. More crucially, he chose to modify the name of the product.
As the Plasma Car’s popularity grew, Kimber relocated the company to an Ottawa office and warehouse facility.
The Plasma Car’s distribution was passed over to a more established supplier with verified links in the toy business.
The partnership, however, was short-lived. PlaSmart regained distribution rights after six months, in late 2003.
Purchasing a Plasma Car
Today, Plasma Car can easily be purchased online in stores such as Amazon or in major toy store chains.
There are many imposter products now in the “wiggle car” category, so do make sure what you’re buying is the original by PlaSmart to ensure the quality and integrity of the product.
We will have reviews of more wiggle car products coming soon!
