If you have a younger girl, you may want to look at this young child’s skateboard. It comes with the Frozen characters design and is suitable for kids who are absolute beginners.

It has a tough maple construction and allows kids to learn tricks in a safe way, along with you there to help them every step of the way!

Pros:

Ideal for younger kids

Tailored to children design

Tough and strong construction

Lightweight but sturdy

Cons:

Not suited for older kids, so be sure to check with the manufacturer for their recommendations

Also consider: Very small children who want to give skating a try could begin with a wide board as small as 17″ long, which will give them some stability, but we’d really we’d wait until they can handle a slimmer 22″ cruiser.

Features To Look For When Buying A Girl’s Skateboard

You will be looking for many things when you’re buying your child a skateboard, so it’s a good idea to break these things down a little further with this buyer’s guide.

It’s important to note there’s no specific design feature that makes a skateboard a “girls’ skateboard” or a “boys skateboard” – it’s purely a marketing and aesthetic difference.

Type Of Skateboard

There are many different types of skateboards. The type of skateboard your daughter may be suited to will largely depend on a few factors, including:

Their height and size

Their skateboarding ability

What they want to do with the skateboard

To the uninitiated parent, there are many different types of skateboards! These include:

Penny Boards

Longboards

Skateboards

Surf skates

Each serves a slightly different purpose, so when buying your daughter her first skateboard, you really need to consider what it’s being used for; for example, just cruising around town with friends, or will she want to learn how to pull some tricks in the skate park?

Correct footing and posture on the skateboard are probably the two most critical points when it comes to learning how to skateboard.

Once your daughter has mastered these points, they can decide the type of skateboard and ride they are best suited to. For example, beginners probably won’t be looking to get a skateboard with a kicktail.

This is because skateboards with kicktails are best for skaters that want to do tricks and stunts. Most beginners will likely be better suited to a cruiser, which, as the name suggests – is suitable for those who wish to cruise.

This makes them ideal for beginners as they are able to learn the fundamentals of skateboarding. Having said this, many beginners may wish to dip their toes into the sea of skateboarding right away.

Therefore, along with your considerations, it will always come down to your child ultimately!

Your Child’s Age

One of the first things you’ll be assessing is what skateboard will be best for your child, depending on their age. Not all skateboards can accommodate smaller children, so it’s definitely advisable to check the manufacturer’s guidance.

Your child’s age may also affect the design choice that you opt for, as you may want to look at color schemes that are marketed towards younger children for example.

As a general rule of thumb – though there will always be exceptions – for balance and coordination, it’s best to wait until your girl is at least 5 years old before they start skateboarding.

The Size Of The Deck

One of the most common mistakes that befall parents is that they go straight onto the market and try to purchase the biggest deck for safety purposes or buy the smallest, thinking it will be lighter.

These can be useful features but are not always the best choice for every rider and every situation. The best skateboard deck size for your daughter will be dependent on their skills, skating purpose, and overall size.

You will need to find their weight and height to get the best idea, but as a general rule of thumb, teenage girls benefit best from a deck size of 7.5 inches to 8.25 inches wide and between 28 inches and 32 inches long.

These size ranges should improve maneuverability and stability for your daughter on their board.

The Board Style

One of the reasons that skateboards are so appealing to girls is that they can come in all different shapes and sizes, all of which you can adapt to your ability and general movement.

There are a few board styles that you could choose from, but these are the best options for girls:

U-shaped deck (broad and large base that accommodates footing)

Flat deck (best for tricks and has more space for your feet)

Convex (great for riding downhill)

Asymmetrical (allows for smooth turns)

The Design

When all is said and done, you will be looking for a skateboard for a girl – so you will need to find out what their favorite designs, colors, and likes are.

Many girls will not be interested in the traditional “girly” or feminine designs, which can be predominantly pink or feature flowers – however, some certainly will be pleased with these designs.

In fact, many skateboards will be relatively plain and allow your daughter to make their own design alterations and add-ons.

Grip Tape

Primarily, we want our kids to be safe on their skateboards, and grip tape can help with that as it improves your child’s stability and provide a grippy, sturdy foot surface.

Grip tapes should be coarse with a thick grip sheet that is also waterproof. This is important because keeping the deck dry can improve its longevity and reduce the risk of deterioration.

Generally speaking, grip tape is black or black. So your fancy skateboard design will only be seen underneath.

Weight Limit

The primary deck materials for skateboards are generally a type of maple wood, but not all are, and even if they are – it’s not always durable enough and cannot withstand certain weights.

Therefore, you will need to know your daughter’s weight and the weight limit that the skateboard can withstand. Of course, a big part of this will come down to your child’s age.

The Wheels

The wheel choice will majorly affect how comfortable the skating experience will be for your child.

Smooth rides, especially for beginners, are going to come from soft wheels as they usually provide much more grip and are best for all types of terrain.

These won’t be the same sort of wheels they’ll want, though, for pulling tricks in the skate park.

Cost

You might be wondering why there’s such a huge difference in price between the types of boards you can buy on Amazon and what you’re seeing in the pro skateboard shops; we’re talking from $30-$40 up to hundreds!

It comes down to the details of what your skater will actually do with their board. Cruising to and from school, hanging with their mates, and occasionally doing a few drop-ins? The boards on Amazon are going to be more than sufficient for your girl’s needs.

Aesthetic, in the vast majority of cases, is going to matter way more than the bearing sizes and trucks. All these technical pieces DO matter, though, if they want to up their skating game, grind rails, and participate in skating competitions.

Our guide is designed to help beginners in the sport find the right gear and get underway. Pro skaters, you will want to visit a skate shop and look at a custom-designed board.

Frequently Asked Questions

You’ll likely have a lot more questions that you would like answered. Here are some of the most common questions that get asked.

What Is The Best Type Of Skateboard?

The answer to this question will largely depend on your child. You’ll have to factor in their height, their weight, and their age – whilst also considering their skating ability.

Beginners of skateboarding, for example, may be best suited for a longboard, but that might not necessarily be the best choice for younger kids, despite having the same skateboarding experience.

What Safety Considerations Do I Need To Make?

Safety is paramount when it comes to our children on skateboards. We’ve mentioned earlier about getting the right skateboard tailored to your child’s ability and looking for the right grip and wheels – but there’s more to it than this.

You’ll also need to remember to buy the following:

Safety Helmet

It is very important to buy a safety helmet that fits correctly and is comfortable enough for your child to keep on their head.

You’ll need to look for skateboard helmets, though, as bike helmets are not always the appropriate option.

This is because skateboard helmets are designed differently, with different shapes and sized shells which accounts for the way that skateboarders are likely to fall, which is different from cycling.

Elbow And Knee Pads

You will also need to purchase some elbow pads and knee pads. When skateboarding, this is essential, especially if your daughter wants to attend a skatepark where other skaters will be present.

Not only do these pads protect against impact, but they can also help to prevent open wounds which can become infected.

Extras

You should also consider telling your child about the importance of checking their skateboard before every use for defects or faults. This will be important in the longevity of the board, as will keeping their board clean.

It’s also important to remind your child to take water and sunscreen with them if they’re going to be out most of the day. If you go with them, ensure you take these items in a bag with you.

What Age Can A Child Ride A Skateboard?

It’s recommended that the youngest age to start skateboarding is around six. However, you will need to chaperone them between six and ten when they are out on their board.

As a result of these different ages, what you look for with a skateboard will differ wildly. Above all else, though, ensure you get the safety aspects first.

Are Skateboards Popular With Girls?

Yes! Now more than ever. Skateboarding has blown up in terms of its popularity with girls, and the number of female skateboarders has never been so high.

Luckily, this also means there are more options to choose from on the market for female skateboards.

Final Thoughts

Buying a girl a skateboard can seem a little difficult, but the steps above should make it a little easier for you to decipher the skateboard talk and choose something appropriate for her skills and interests.

As long as you get the safety right, the type of skateboard tailored toward your child right, and the design – you’ll be fine going forward!

Good luck with your skateboard search!

Roller skating is a popular sport for kids and adults alike, but it can be difficult to teach someone how to skate without having them take a few spills.

It’s all part of the fun but it can take a little time to build up a child’s roller skating skills until they gain confidence, and a little patience on the teacher’s part too.

If you want your child or teen to learn how to roller skate successfully, here are 10 simple steps to see you through to skating success.

1. Safety First

While learning how to skate is a lot of fun, it also comes with its share of risks.

Like any sport on wheels, it is essential that alongside the obvious – your child’s first roller skates – you buy them the proper protective safety equipment.

This includes:

A dual-certified skating helmet

Wrist pads

Elbow pads

Knee pads

Wearing these items won’t entirely prevent accidents but will certainly soften the fall and prevent serious injuries to important parts of the body.

2. Start With The Right Attitude & Right Position

Even before that first skate lesson starts, work on your child’s confidence.

They will understandably feel nervous before trying a new sport, especially one where falling down and potential injuries are par for the course.

Go through some of the motions involved in starting, slowing and stopping in roller skates before the skates are even on their feet.

Have them start by holding their arms in front of them and their knees slightly bent.

Hands to their knees is their “safe position”.-

This will be fundamental for everything we’re about to teach below.

3. Familiarise Your Child With The Feel of the Skates

Even strapping on the skates can be an unusual feel for your child, to begin with. Unlike most sports in their regular trainers, skates are likely to feel tight. Make sure they’ve been properly fitted and adjusted without toes being pinched before your lesson starts.

You’ll want some time to familiarise them with how the skates feel and work before they hit a smooth flat surface. Can you start on carpet or grass while they get a feel for the skates?

Avoid places such as staircases, steps, and other areas where a person could easily slip and fall.

Get them walking with the skates on, with a soft surface first so if they fall over, they will have a much easier landing. Having something to grab will help too, such as the back of the couch or a fence or railing.

Find a comfortable position for you both when in motion, be it holding one hand to their side, or both hands in front of them. Avoid gripping your child from behind or under their arms.

Once you’re both comfortable and confident – it’s time to find a smooth flat surface and get rolling properly.

4. Start Simple – From Rolling to Gliding

If you want your child to become a proficient skater, you’ll first need to make sure he or she knows how to stand and then roll properly before moving on to more advanced moves.

The simplest form of roller skating involves just rolling forward and backward along the ground, so this is a good place to begin.

Keep knees bent and lean slightly forward.

While holding a child’s hand or hands, encourage them to roll forward.

Get them to pick up one foot at a time and start walking/marching to practice balance.

Once confidence grows with basic rolling, encourage them to start gliding.

They do this by continuing to step forward but lengthening their stride.

They’ll eventually be able to push off with their back foot while rolling forward on their front foot.

Gliding can take several sessions to master so stick with it; if they’re struggling, stick to a simple march.

Note! It’s also highly recommended that the parent or teacher NOT be in skates for this first lesson. You are there to provide stability only, not drag them along.

5. Learning How To Stop

Going forward is a great start, but knowing how to slow down and safely stop is just as important and will be their best line of defense against tumbles.

Start by practicing how to use the brakes (this is the stopper at the front for a quad skate) before they set off.

Practice the motion of bending their knees and putting their hands on their knees to stabilize and slow down when they feel the wobbles coming.

Instruct them to lean their body forward and push down with one foot, digging the skate into the ground to come to a complete stop.

It may take some practice at first, but once they get the hang of it, they’ll find it easier than ever to keep up with the rest of the crowd.

6. Learning To Turn

Once they can go forward and stop, you’ll want to teach them how to turn. Turning is about shifting body weight during a glide to change the direction they’re headed.

Have them shift their body slightly to the right, their body should naturally start to veer right. Try this on both sides of their body so they can feel how much weight they need to turn left and right.

This can be tricky at first as they need a good sense of balance. To start, have them simply hold your hands in their skates and press their weight from one side to the other so they can feel which muscles they need to engage.

Once they’re feeling confident, start gliding then shift their weight in the direction they want to turn.

Let go of their hands and let them move their weight independently.

With this move mastered, they should be able to start making laps in a skating rink.

7. Gaining Speed

Once they have these fundamental maneuvers down, they’ll want to build up some more momentum.

Instruct your child to lean forward a little further and pump their arms backward and forth, just like when they’re running, whilst continuing to glide their skates.

To get some speed up, it’s essential they push off on their back foot, making sure they’re on an even, flat surface.

8. I Get Knocked Down, But I Get Up Again

It’s completely normal to take a few tumbles at the start when learning to skate (or even after you’ve been skating for years!)

If they fall, remind them of the importance of getting back up. Their safety gear is there doing what it needs to do. Remind your child that they’re doing a great job and they’ll only get better with practice.

Your reaction counts as much as anything; a smile with reassurance is far better than “OMG, are you OK?” or “You’re doing it wrong!”.

If your child isn’t injured, give them just a few seconds to process what happened and perhaps get over the shock and get them straight back onto their feet. They’ll probably need a helping hand or make their way to a railing to start, getting upright on your own with wheels on your feet is no mean feat!

Teaching them how to stand on their own though is an essential skill in itself.

Step one – always tuck fingers in and make fists – you don’t want other skaters running over those digits!

Then, from a seated position, have them roll their bottom to one side

Get up on one knee

Place their hands on this forward knee and pull up the rest of their body weight.

9. Learn Skating Etiquette

Remember if they’re practicing at a roller rink, there’s some common etiquette that applies.

They need to move with the flow of other skaters – most rinks will mark the direction of travel

Try not to weave in and out of line if they can help it

If they want to stop, look for a safe spot to do so, heading to an edge or an exit, not dead in front of other skaters.

10. Practice, Practice, Practice… And Have Fun!

Learning how to skate doesn’t have to be all work and no play. As soon as they feel comfortable enough to move around freely, try taking part in some fun activities like a roller disco or roller derby. There are plenty of ways to enjoy the sport and have a great time doing it.

Don’t ever push your child before they’re ready. There’s no sooner way you’ll find those skates shoved to the darkest depths of their wardrobe. Work at their pace (not what friends, siblings, and other kids are doing) and be there right alongside them at the start until their confidence grows.

If you are struggling with your patience or feeling frustrated, remember your child will pick up on this. It may be time to take them to a skating rink and get some professional help.

More Frequently Asked Questions Teaching a Child to Roller Skate

Can I Teach My Kid To Roller Skate Myself?

Yes, even with only a little knowledge of the basics of roller skating you can teach your kids how to skate. However, you’ll need to do it right. First, you’ll need to know which age group your child falls into.

Children who are younger than four years old usually learn how to skate by watching their parents. If your child is older, then you can model for them how to do it. Once they understand the basic movements, you can progress to more complicated moves.

What Equipment Does A Kid Need To Learn How To Skate?

The most obvious thing a child needs to learn how to skate is a pair of skates. These can be borrowed from a skating rink or their very own set of skates.

Roller skates come in two designs – quad skates with two axles and two wheels on each axle, and inline skates (also called Rollerblades) that have 3-5 wheels in a row.

Both types of skates have their pros and cons. However, we’d recommend for a brand new skater that quad skates are quicker to grasp as they can easier find their balance. With the basics mastered, they can move on to inline skates.

They will also need all the appropriate safety gear to protect their body from inevitable tumbles, including a skate helmet, elbow, wrist, and knee pads.

You can find our complete guide to the best skating accessories to invest in for your child over here.

Do I Need To Go To A Rink To Teach My Kid How To Skate?

No, you don’t need to go to a formal skating rink to teach your kids how to roller skate. Instead, you can teach them at home or outside. Just make sure that there’s a flat surface where they can practice. Try and avoid hills and uneven surfaces for a beginner.

Is Roller Skating Easy For Kids?

Yes, it is. Most children can easily pick up the basic skills needed to become good skaters. All they have to do is follow instructions and practice.

If you start your child too young, however, they may lack the coordination and confidence to get going.

If at first, you don’t succeed, try it again a few weeks or months later. Their bodies and their confidence can grow at a rapid pace. Learning to skate is as much about mindset as it is the physical action of skating.

Are Roller Skates Expensive?

No, they aren’t, if you start with beginner recreation skates. The best way to get started with roller skating is to just buy a set of cheap skates. This way, you won’t spend too much money.

If your child grows a love for the sport, proper roller derby and racing skates can start costing several hundreds of dollars.

Does My Kid Need Lessons To Learn How To Skate Well?

Yes, unless you’re a pretty good skater yourself, your child may benefit from professional lessons to improve their skills.

A skating coach will be able to help your child improve on the basic starting, gliding, and stopping skills you’ve already taught them.

What If My Kid Gets Hurt While Learning How To Skate?

Even keeping a close eye on your child learning to skate, tumbles happen.

Most accidents for beginners involve simple bumps that an ice pack should fix (it’s a good idea to make sure you have some ice packs on hand before you get started!). And they’ll learn pretty fast why the first rule of taking a tumble is to make your hands into fists.

If your child seriously hurts himself or herself while learning how to skate, you should immediately seek medical attention.

Even more important than physical injuries can be their confidence. Reassure them that falls are part of the learning experience and very common in the sport, even for professional skaters. Getting them back on their wheels as soon as they are able to will help with their confidence.

Ready to Start Teaching Your Child to Skate?

Roller skating is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world today. It has been around as a sport since the 19th Century and has recently seen a resurgence in popularity.

Many people think that it is just for young adults because of the high speeds involved. But this isn’t true. Anyone can learn how to roller skate and even master the sport, even from as young as toddlers!

Whatever type of roller skates your child chooses, be it classic quad roller skates or inline skates for speed, taking them through these beginner steps will see them on their way to growing a love for a new sport.

See It In Action – Teaching A Kid How To Roller Skate

This is a good video courtesy of Fritzy at Skate World San Diego to show you how kids learn to roller skate.

In conclusion, teaching a kid how to roller skate can be done in just a few simple steps so long as you follow the tips in this article and ensure that you are being as encouraging as possible.

Making sure that the child is wearing the proper protective gear will mean that they can get all the benefits from roller skating while reducing the risk of injury.

Skate Park Scooters Buyers Guide

If you are buying a Pro Scooter for the first time, there are certain things that you need to look out for that show the quality of the product.

Here are some features that you should be paying attention to when buying a scooter, particularly when your child is interested in doing tricks and using their 2-wheeled scooter at the skate park.

Size Of The Deck

A well-fitting deck improves the ride and enables you to do tricks with more ease. A wider deck, measuring 19 inches x 4 inches (length x width) is one of the most secure decks out there and is the most common size on scooters.

A deck that is either too small or too large may cause instability, which is particularly dangerous since it may cause the rider to fall more often.

Whether buying for yourself or your child, a good way to get the right size deck for you is to use your shoe size as a guide. You can measure this against the deck to ensure that you can fit on the scooter securely.

Size Of Bar

The majority of professional scooters feature a 20-inch bar width and a 20-inch height. To get the appropriate height, know that the bar should be about the height of the rider’s waist or the peak of their hip when standing on the deck of the scooter.

If the scooter bar is too high, then your child will have a hard time controlling the scooter as they ride.

You also have to consider the width of the bar when looking at scooters. A narrow bar allows you to accomplish more technical maneuvers such as the bar spin, but a broader bar does not let you do this. When buying for a child, however, you do not want the bars wider than their shoulders.

Scooter Fork

The fork on a scooter is the integral component that connects the deck, bar, and front wheel. On a store-bought scooter, you will have the fork already included as part of the scooter.

Pro Scooters who are constructing their own rides will need to consider the right size fork to fit the bars and wheels of their choice. the strongest type is the threadless fork.

Pro Scooter Wheels

There are two factors to look at when considering pro scooter wheels; the size and material.

The wheel size on the pro scooters is an important factor to consider. Generally speaking, pro scooter wheels range from 100mm to 125mm in diameter. You’ll need wheels that not only fit the fork of your scooter but what you want your scooter to do.

The larger the wheel, the faster your scooter will go.

When it comes to materials – yes, you want your ride to look cool and aesthetically pleasing, but more importantly, durable.

Most wheels are made of a Urethane outer for speed, but the core can be made from plastic or metal. The metal core wheels will be more durable for stunts and tricky maneuvers.

Bearings

Bearings are the seven or eight balls in the center of your wheels. These are identified by ABEC numbers that reflect the degree of precision with which they are created, such as AEBC-2, ABEC-1, etc. The higher the number, the more precise the bearings.

After each use, you do not need to clean the bearings, but you may dry and clean them if they are a bit wet. Additionally, avoid lubricating these bearings since harmful contaminants can form and attach to the surface, posing a health risk to the rider.

Compression system

This is the lingo we started to get lost in when purchasing our first skate park scooter! But trust us, the compression system is crucial. it maintains stability between the deck, bars, and fork. If this connection isn’t stable, it can lead to your child quickly damaging their scooter.

Beware cheap scooters that use a threaded compression system that is considered less durable; if your kid wants to get serious with their skate park scooter, look for scooters with an inverted compression system, standard compression system, or hidden internal compression system.

Price

Stunt scooters for kids typically range from $50-$150 in price. Like with everything kids toys, you get what you pay for with scooters. If you buy a less costly item, keep in mind that it may break after a short time because it will be of lesser quality.

This may be disappointing for both child and parent, which is why it’s a good idea to look for a skate park scooter that is well-built and has a reputation for using high-quality materials. Choose an attractive model at a reasonable price, but not too low.

Frequently Asked Questions About Stunt Scooters

What Size Pro Scooter Should I Get?

There are many sized scooters available. To get the right size for you you need to consider your child’s height and shoe size to make sure that you can fit on it. It is best to head to a store and try a few scooters on for size to see which size suits you best.

This is a good video guide from Scoot Hut on the best size scooter to look for:

How Much Should My Scooter Weigh?

The best scooters for stunts are lightweight as these are the best ones to use when performing tricks in the skatepark. You can find some that weigh as little as 8lbs.

Are Scooters Allowed at Skate Parks?

We think the answer to this often lies in whether you are camp skateboard or scooter!

Whilst both skateboarders and scooters are great fun to use at a skateboarding park, scooter riders often lack the awareness and skills that skateboarders have gained and can be viewed by many as a nuisance.

If you’re taking your kid to the skate park with their new scooter for the first time, make sure their aware of skate park etiquette, giving way on obstacles and checking their surroundings.

Most parks will allow both scooters and skateboards to be used but do check with your local skate park to see if any specific rules are stipulated on what types of gear you can use.

Do you need a helmet with a skate park scooter?

Even if not specifically stated in the park rules, it should go without saying a scooter helmet is essential; even if your child no longer wears a scooter playing at home or on the footpaths, a skatepark is a different ball game, with the Irish of regularly taking a spill much, much higher.

We’d actually recommend you look at a dual certified skateboarding helmet, designed for multiple impacts in preference to a traditional scooter helmet. You can learn more about skateboarding helmet safety standards (ASTM F1492-15) here.

Can Pro Scooters fold?

The lightweight design of a scooter designed to do tricks means that it does not have a folding mechanism, these type of scooters are made not to be adjustable.

What age is good to start using Pro Scooters?

Given the narrow, two-wheel design, pro scooters are not recommended until at least 6 years of age. Many models specify recommended from 8 years of age.

Can my child use a standard scooter at a skatepark?

Whilst theoretically possible, yes, they will struggle with getting their speed up and performing tricks if their scooter is too heavy and not designed to perform tricks.

Choosing the right size and the right type of skateboard for your child could make a big difference to their learning experience and enjoyment of skateboarding.

If the skateboard doesn’t fit your child, they can easily be left frustrated with the lack of functionality or difficulty to maneuvered the way they want.

We’re going to talk you through typical ages and height, as well as shoe sizing to determine the right size skateboard for your child.

Cruiser vs Skateboard Vs Longboard

Before we get into the size of the board, its important we distinguish upfront that there’s a subtle difference between skateboards, depending on the riders purpose.

Does your child predominantly want their skateboard for cruising and as a means of transport, or is it for taking to the skate park and learning tricks?

Whilst the smaller-sized cruiser skateboards or penny boards might seem like the ideal solution for a smaller child, their not going to be the most appropriate for pulling tricks and street skating.

A longboard is a great choice if your kid, say, plans to ride it to school every day as it is longer and wider than a street skateboard for a comfortable ride over all sorts of terrains.

We compare cruisers to longboards over here if it’s a transport type of skateboard you’re looking for.

We’re going to assume for the remainder of this article we’re talking about traditional street skateboards and park boards. They’re distinguished by their unique “popsicle” shape and smaller, harder wheels.

As participants in the Amazon Associates affiliate program, this page contains links that earn us a commission on qualifying purchases.

Kids Skateboard Size Chart

When looking for a child’s skateboard, your focus should primarily be on the width of the board, rather than the length, your child’s age or their preference for a particular cool design!

Deck Width

Approx Age

Approx Height

Approx US Shoe Size

Micro

6.5” – 6.75”

5 years & under

3’4” & under (104 cm)

< 1 Kids

Mini

7” – 7.5”

6 to 8 years

3’5” to 4’4” (106 to 134cm)

2 – 5 Kids

Mid

7.3” – 7.5”

9 to 12 years

4’5” to 5’2” (136 to 158 cm)

7-8 Adults

Full

8” +

13 years & older

5’3 & up (160cm)

9 + Adults

We would caution that these ages are an approximation! Of course, kids come in all shapes and sizes.

There is no hard and fast rule, and certainly most manufacturers don’t tend to label their boards as micro, mini, mid etc. If you have a much taller child they will comfortably fit in the next size up board, especially if they also have large feet.

When your child is ready to ride a skateboard, usually from around 5 years of age, they will need a smaller skateboard to begin with.

Generally speaking, young kids have a smaller feet, we’re talking up to a size 1, and will require the narrowest of decks.

They may have a preference at this age for a smaller, lighter penny board or mini 22″ cruiser. These look attractive and come in multiple different colorful and appealing designs, but note they are also shorter as well as narrower. They can require a fair bit of skill and practice for your child to get their balance.

If your child is keen to start skate park skateboarding early, don’t settle on cheap skateboards from the department store. You need to track down a proper micro skateboard with a wider deck – approximately 6″ to 6.5″ will help with stability.

This is the next step up and the classic size that most kids will start out on when first learning to skateboard. The slightly wider deck is ideal for learning how to stand on a skateboard.

It is hard to find a true micro skateboard for this age category, typically most are cruisers. They are distinguished by the pointed nose and tapered end.

If you cannot find a suitable mini skateboard that has the deck width, consider whether they are ready to skip this stage and head straight to a mid-size.

Mid Size Skateboard

A mid size skateboard is a great transition skateboard for your slightly older kids. They will vary greatly in exact dimensions, but generally, we’re talking any skateboards that are not quite full-size. They tend to be between 7.5″ and 8″ wide and up to 31″ in length.

If your pre-teen is quite tall or large footed, you could well skip straight o the full size board. We’d recommend getting them into a skate shop and testing out what feels the most comfortable for them.

Full Size Skateboard

Deck Width 8” plus

Approximate Height 5.3″ plus

US Shoe size 9 plus

Ideal for 13 years plus

A full size skateboard will suit your growing teen. As we know, their feet tend to grow first so as soon as their feet are ready for a full width board, its time to open the door to the full adult range.

Note that even if your girls feet aren’t as large as a size 9, its fine to consider a full size board once she’s over 5’3″ approximately – most sizing guides unfortunately do seem to skew to males!

This can sometimes make the decision even harder as there is so much choice, and a lot of jargon out there I bet you’re minds already boggling how much their is to learn!

Size factors to consider buying a kids beginner skateboard

So now we know the broad size categories skateboards come in, let’s take a deeper look at why each factor matters in your skateboard buying decision.

Why does skateboard width matter?

The width is really important for children especially as its critical to balance – the key element of riding a skateboard is staying upright!!

If the board you select is too skinny, you will find there is less stability and more likelihood of flipping. A skinnier deck is more nimble though for flip tricks, ledges and technical skating. But is this realistically going to be your beginner?

Conversely, if your board is too fat, it can be too heavy for your child. It will offer them more stability but be too hard to flip if doing tricks is on their agenda. A wider board works better on ramps or in skate parks.

If your child prefers the stability of a wider board, it might be a longboard that they’re after rather than a traditional street skateboard. Just be aware, if you’re buying a skateboard for the comfort in riding, it won’t really be appropriate for skate parks.

If you had to err one way of the other, we’d say go with a wider deck. It will help them find their balance and get going with confidence sooner.

What’s the importance of skateboard deck length?

A longer deck gives more stability but is less maneuverable. Conversely the shorter deck is less stable but more maneuverable.

Some kids do like to starter with the smaller cruiser boards for this reason; they’re great for hanging out with mates, riding the footpaths and weaving around obstacles.

It can come down to personal preference when it comes to length. You want your child to be able to maintain a good stance.

Does Wheel Base size matter on a kids skateboard?

You’ll find on kids skateboards the wheel base, that’s the length between the wheels will increase proportionately based on deck size.

Once your child is really familiar with their board, they may have specific riding needs in mind.

A long wheelbase leaves more space between your trucks and gives a wider stance. It makes it easier to do tricks but gives you less yield. Conversely, a shorter deck can handle sharper turns making it more maneuverable.

Unless your kids is super serious about their skateboarding – as in getting to competition level – wheel base is unlikely to factor into your first skateboard purchase decision.

We would recommend you stick to the manufacturers standard wheel base.

Kids Skateboard Wheel Size

Again, you can interchange your skateboards wheels if you’re going for a custom build. However, in most cases, if you’re buying a skateboard off the shelf, it will already have the right size wheels fit for purpose for that size and type of board.

The most common wheel sizes you’ll find on skateboards are:

50 to 53 mm – These provide a stable ride and are designed for small children who shouldn’t be going too fast.
54 to 59 mm – Average sized wheels for beginners and slightly older children.
60 mm+ – These are designed to be faster and recommended only once your child has experience in riding.

You may also hear wheel “durometer” scale mentioned, this is how hard the wheels are. For street and park skating, you want harder urethane wheels that work well on smooth surfaces.

Softer wheels are better for cruisers and rougher terrains.

And all the other bits – skateboard features

Oh its super confusing, I know! We spent more hours than you’d believe asking questions in skateboard shops. And its not that the staff don’t know there stuff – its just that most don’t have kids and understand their techie specs too well leaving us parents feeling overwhelmed!

Other things you might hear mentioned describing a skateboards features:

Truck size (this is the part that sits under your skateboard and houses the axel which holds on the wheels. They can be varied in size)

Bearings (this is what allows the wheels to roll and determines how smooth and fast the wheels rotate)

Grip tape (the rough material that helps keep your feet from slipping on the top of the deck)

Deck material (usually described as how layers, you are looking for plywood or maple wood – you don’t want plastic for a skate park)

All of these whilst yes, very important to how a skateboard functions, are not your primary concern for a kids beginner skateboard. You can fairly safely assume that these things all come as standard.

The only thing that may make a small difference and worth considering is deck shape. As we mentioned at the outset, a “popsicle” shape is the traditional skateboard shape with a small curve at the nose and tail. The deck can come be flat of come with a slight concave – we’d honestly only worry about this once your child is moving up in ability.

And yes, we know they absolutely need the safety gear too!

Find our complete guide to the best kids helmets here

When is my child ready to upgrade skateboard size?

If your child already has a skateboard and is begging for a new one, the most obvious sign they’re ready to upgrade is that they’re going through a growth spurt. You’ll no doubt suddenly see them outgrowing shoes, and basically doing nothing but eat, sleep, skate repeat!

Critically, when they hit around 4’4″ (134cm) – this is a sign that a mini board is no longer going to meet their needs and you need to be looking into mid-sized boards.

Similarly, once they’ve hit 5’3″ (160cm), it’s time to start looking at full size boards that should last them through until their teens.

If they have been avid users of their first board, you may also find wear and tear over time – it’s natural; a well-used skateboard even with good maintenance won’t last forever.

Before rushing out for a new skateboard, determine whether its a matter of wear and tear. Can the parts be repaired or replaced? Or have they actually outgrown their old board (or realized it can’t do what their friends does!? Likely this is no.1 reason!)

DO base it on their height and feet size, as supposed to their age; this is far more critical in a comfortable ride and getting their stance right.

Are you looking for the best skateboard for beginners? If yes, then you’ve come to the right place. In this article, we will share our top picks for beginner skateboards, with a focus on helping your child choose their first skateboard.

Skateboarding has become a very popular sport over the years and the inclusion of skateboarding at the summer Olympics in 2021 only heightened its appeal to the younger generation. The sport combines elements from surfing, BMX riding, rollerblading, and other sports. It is also a great way for kids to stay fit and enjoy the outdoors.

There are several types of skateboards, ranging from cruiser boards to longboards and everything in between. Each type has its pros and cons. For example, cruiser boards are easier to ride and maneuver around obstacles, whereas longboards offer greater stability and speed.

Traditional “popsicle”-shape skateboards, on the other hand, are ideal for your little boarders who want to pull their moves on the ramps or skate parks.

Cruisers are generally more comfortable because they have softer wheels that absorb shock better than hard trucks. On the other hand, longboards are usually made with thicker decks so they can handle heavier loads.

The first step to learning how to skateboard is getting your balance correct, so you will want to find a skateboard that helps you do exactly that.

Before diving deep into this guide, you will want to check out our guide to kids’ skateboard sizes. Once you know what size they are ready for it will make buying their beginner skateboard so much easier.

Arcade Pro Standard Skateboard

Whilst it might have ‘pro’ in the name, this skateboard is actually pretty good for beginners, and it does not break the bank either. These things make it a perfect skateboard to invest in as your first one without compromising on quality.

The skateboard was designed to take you through your skateboarding journey. Whilst you might feel like a beginner, the board has been created, so you do not feel like one. This means that you can take it with you for years to come.

Having taken it to the skate park, nobody had any idea it was a skateboard designed for a newcomer.

It can hold up to 220 pounds, with a 7.75 by 31.25-inch deck. This means it can take up to a size 12 shoe! The Flexi 7-ply maple wood of the deck is durable enough to last and not scuff as you practice tricks.

It has ABEC-7 bearings that include 54 mm injected PU wheels which add grip as well as smooth speed. The trucks are made out of T6 aluminum with carbon steel axles for extra support.

The designs are a little ‘cutesy’, which may put some people off – think cats and ducks. They do stand out and are still cool to take to the local skate park. Also, whilst it says it is suitable for boys and girls, they are also aimed at novice adults too. This might explain the cute style of artwork.

Pros

Durable – made from 7-ply maple wood with injected PU wheels

Beginner-friendly – has been designed for the beginner in mind

Budget-friendly – not too expensive for the beginner to invest in

Cons

Design – can be a little ‘cutesy’ rather than cool

Another beginner skateboard, and again, you cannot tell it has been specifically designed for beginners in mind. A little more pricey than the Arcade Pro and a wider board, the South Bay Charger skateboard has a subtle design that will suit everyone’s tastes.

The premium heavy deck is made from 7-layers of maple wood. It also includes 5.25-inch INDE trucks along with 52 mm by 32 mm SHR-102A wheels which have ABEC-7 chromium steel bearings. This helps the skateboard glide effortlessly along.

The wheels feel stable and allow for doing tricks with ease, such as ollies. It has a classic look and does not stand out too much when taking it out in public.

The skateboard includes a clear grip tape deck instead of the standard black. This means the design flows from underneath the deck and over the top, showcasing the wood and giving it an overall natural aesthetic.

Some may even say the design is a little too simplistic and may want something with a bit more color.

Pros

Premium material – durable maple wood with chromium steel bearings

Clear grip tape – to allow the design and wood to be at the forefront

Mid-scale price – good for those on a budget but also those who want something premium

Cons

Simplistic design – if you want bright colors and patterns, this skateboard is not for you

Whilst not a skateboard per se, it is still a type of skateboard. A cruiser can be great for beginners because it allows for better control of speed, and ease of moving around corners.

The 100% maple wood deck is durable enough to take around with you. At 27 inches long and 7.5 inches wide, it is smaller than a standard skateboard, but this will make it easier to carry around – also because it only weighs 5 pounds.

The wheels look really interesting due to every one of them being a different color. It has real appeal for the younger rider. They are made from polyurethane which is strong to use out on sidewalks, ensuring it will last for a long time.

The built-in super shock absorber and high-speed ABEC-7 bearings make it great for use on bumpy surfaces too. In fact, it felt really smooth and glided well along sidewalk cracks.

This cruiser is suitable for children and makes a fantastic first skateboard option. However, the cruiser is not the best option if you want to do tricks. It has been made for use on the sidewalk rather than as a board to grind a rail.

Pros

Great for beginners – stable, better control and easier to move around corners

Durable – deck is made from maple wood

Colorful – is fun and stands out with its colorful wheels

Built-in shock absorber – perfect for using on the sidewalk

Cons

Smaller than an average skateboard – but it does make it easier to carry

Best for cruising – if you want to do tricks in the skatepark, this board will disappoint

A budget-friendly skateboard that has great quality can be difficult to find, but we think we have done it. The PHNHOLUN skateboard is beginner-friendly without compromising on quality.

With 8-layers of maple wood, it has a strong deck that can hold up to 220 pounds worth of weight. The size is 31 by 8 inches, making it a good standard length and width for any skateboarding newbie over around 5’3″ tall.

It has a built-in anti-shock system to allow for a smooth ride and PU wheels alongside ABEC-11 precision bearings and PU bushings to provide much better balance control. It did exactly what it said, making sure you could do a quick ollie and smoothly turn a corner.

Whilst it is on the lower end of the pricing spectrum, it certainly met our expectations as a good skateboard for beginners. There are undoubtedly better boards out there that will cost you more money. However, overall, this is a fantastic beginner skateboard for a budget price.

Pros

Strong and durable – the deck is built with 8-layers of maple wood

Great standard size – at 31 by 8 inches, holding up to 220 pounds of weight, it is a good size for any skateboarding beginner

Anti-shock system built-in – comfortable to use on the sidewalk

Cons

Budget skateboard – great board for the price, though if you are willing to pay more, then do so

Cruiser Long Board Skateboard. Drop Through Longboards made of Bamboo & Fiberglass - High-Speed Bearings & T-Tool (Weird)" class="aligncenter" />

Another skateboard that’s a little different your average skateboard, but this time instead of a cruiser, it is a longboard (we go into more depth about the difference between longboards and cruisers over here).

As you might have guessed, it is longer than a skateboard at 39 inches in length and 8.75 inches in width. It provides extra flexibility whilst you are out cruising.

The Apollo longboard’s deck is made with 3-layers of bamboo to provide extra flexibility. There is also fiberglass added for even more flexibility, as well as stability.

Alongside the decking is aircraft aluminum trucks that are both lightweight and durable, making it a perfect option for when you are out on the sidewalk. Also, the chrome steel bearings help to make the ride completely stable.

The 51 mm HR83A wheels are medium-hard and provide super grip to avoid the longboard sliding everywhere. They allow you to easily maneuver along the streets with ease.

Whilst the longboard is great for beginners, some people may find it a little too big, especially if you are small in size. Also, if you want to do tricks, stick with a standard skateboard. Just like with the cruiser, this has been designed to take you around rather than to do tricks with.

Pros

Bamboo and fiberglass – provides extra flexibility as well as something different to maple wood

Great for cruising – will take you from A to B

Attractive design – with many more to choose from

Cons

Size – it may be a bit too big for most younger kids to find comfortable, its more suited to older teens

Not for tricks – stick with a standard skateboard if that is what you want it for

Skateboards are a great way to get fit and help you go from A to B without using a car or a bicycle. So now that you know what some of the best beginner skateboards are, here is a quick buyer’s guide to help you decipher the key areas when you are looking to buy a skateboard.

Skateboard Size

When you first look at buying your child a skateboard, we’re guessing size isn’t the first thing on their mind, but it is the most important.

Usually, a standard skateboard has a length of around 31″-32″ inches and a deck width of around 8 inches. At first, this is a good size for practically anybody. Look a little deeper though and you’ll see kids skateboard size needs differ.

If you are shopping for a skateboard for an under 12, we highly recommend you dive into our kids skateboard sizing guide FIRST before deciding on the right size of beginner skateboard.

Over time, if your child really enjoys skateboarding, you might want to start to think about investing in a skateboard that matches their ability. This means buying a board that feels comfortable to use for their size and something that allows them to perform the tasks they want it to.

You could also think about either moving onto a small cruiser or a longboard – whatever suits you best!

Skateboard Deck Material

Once you’ve established the deck size, the material of the skateboard deck is the next thing you should take note of. If it is plastic, then move along (unless its specially a small cruiser such as a penny board you’re in the market for)

For a street skateboard, what you are looking for is maple wood or bamboo – basically something strong, sturdy and durable that will be able to take the hard knocks.

A deck usually has several layers of the material, depending on what it is. This just shows how strong it is. So with maple wood, you might see the skateboard has around 7 layers.

Bamboo may cost less, but that does not mean it is not as good as maple wood – it is!

Skateboard Wheels

You are interested primarily in the skateboard’s wheel size and hardness (though yes, color may play into your final decision!)

Skateboard wheels material

Avoid really hard plastic or ultra-soft rubber for a beginner’s skateboard. The best wheels are made from PU (Polyurethane). This material will give the skateboard better grip and durability.

You likely come across a “durometer” rating describing skateboard wheels This ranks wheels on a sliding scale out of 100 – with 100A being the hardest.

Generally speaking, harder wheels are faster and better for smooth surfaces like skate parks. Softer wheels are slower and have more grip, they’re better for street skating and rougher terrain.

Skateboard wheel size

Wheel diameter will vary by skateboard purpose – what sort of skateboard, what you want your skateboard to do, and terrain. As a general guide:

50 to 53 mm – Small wheels give a stable ride on flat surfaces, they’re best for small children’s boards that shouldn’t be going too fast.
54 to 59 mm – Average-sized wheels for beginners and slightly older children, this size will give you a good mix between speed and acceleration.
60 mm+ – Larger wheels are designed to be faster and recommended only once your child has experience in riding, you’ll normally only find wheels this large on longboards.

Wheelbase and Trucks

You also want the trucks (the part under the board that holds the axis) to be made out of metal and not plastic. Keep your eye on small details like these if you want a skateboard that allows for better balance and strength. You do not want it to fall apart within your child’s first month of using it!

Skateboard Price

Whilst you might be mistaken to think that the more expensive the skateboard is the better it will be, you could not be further from the truth.

There are plenty of budget-friendly options for skateboards. These should not be ignored when you are a beginner. An expensive skateboard might seem like the best choice, but it actually might be better to start off with something less expensive.

We certainly started on an inexpensive cruiser with our kids. It quickly became apparent they couldn’t do tricks in the skate park and lacked the stability to ride them, so we soon after had to invest in street skateboards.

The reality is until your kid gets going on 4 wheels, it will be hard to know what they like best. We’d suggest, if possible, they borrow someone’s board or rent a board from a skate park before purchasing their own. See which part of skateboarding they like best and purchase something appropriate.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Should You Avoid When Buying A Skateboard?

There are several signs that point towards a bad quality skateboard. One of those things to avoid is plastic decks. What you should be looking for is something like plywood or maple wood. It has a better shape and is a lot more durable.

Never buy a skateboard with really soft rubber wheels or hard plastic-based wheels. Polyurethane wheels are much better. These help with balance, grip, and also durability.

Metal alloy trucks are much better than plastic-based trucks. Ones that do not turn or lean should be avoided as well. When the skateboard has metal alloy trucks, you want to make sure that they also have polyurethane brushes that allow the skateboard to turn.

What Should You Look For When Buying A Skateboard For The First Time?

There is something exciting about buying your child’s first skateboard, and it is also something that they will remember in the years to come. They will want a board that they can treasure for years, not simply throw in the trash heap after a few failed attempts to get going.

The skateboard should, of course, be of high quality, but it still does not have to break the bank and empty your wallet. So long as it has a good build is not full of hard plastic, you’re on the right track.

Should I Buy A Particular Size Skateboard?

You will not be surprised to know that skateboards come in many, many different sizes. Like everything else, you will want to buy a skateboard that suits your child’s build. It is a little like a bike; you would not ride a bike that is too big or small.

When looking at the kids skateboard sizes, it is predominantly about the width of the skateboard. Generally, the most common board sizes are around 7.75 inches and 8.25 inches, with the board itself being around 31 to 32″ inches long.

Junior skateboards are different again. If you’re shopping for skateboards for your under 12’s, greater care needs to be taken to find the right size to fit their height and foot size so that they will get a comfortable and stable ride.

As your child grows – not only in height but in experience and getting to know what they like about their board and what sort of skater they want to be – you will undoubtedly need to change and update accordingly.

For example, if they want to do tricks such as an ollie, then you might want a thinner and lighter skateboard to accommodate their tricks.

How To Start Skateboarding As A Beginner?

Skateboarding is a sport that requires a lot of practice to master. You need to be able to skate backward as well as forwards. To do this, you must learn how to turn around quickly while keeping your balance.

To begin with though, jump over to our guide on how to get started standing on a skateboard, and how to stop on a skateboard. Once your beginner skater has mastered these two moves, everything else starts to fall into place.

Skaters usually use ramps to improve their skills. Some people prefer to go down hills instead of up them. When learning how to skate, try to avoid going too fast. Your body should feel comfortable when you are skating.

Beginners can start with bigger boards and then move up to smaller ones for specialized purposes as they get better. Longboards are more stable than short boards because they have wider wheels and a longer wheelbase. Micro decks are narrower, shorter, and also have smaller widths. Slides are narrow but wide enough to stand on.

When you’re learning how to do tricks, it’s better to start with a narrower board. Once you learn how to do tricks, you can move up to a bigger board.

Skateboards are also a great way to get around town. You can use them as transportation or fun entertainment. Skateboarding is an activity that requires you to be creative and think fast. Skaters need to know how to control their board while also being able to perform tricks.

How Do You Look After Your Skateboard

Remember it doesn’t start and end with the skateboard purchase. Depending on how much of a workout your child’s skateboard gets, it will need regular maintenance.

The most important is keeping your skateboard clean. This can involve regularly removing the grip tape and any stickers and applying rubbing alcohol with an old rag.

If you are not familiar with how your board’s bearings work, you may need the assistance of a specialized skateboard shop for more complex maintenance issues.

Are you looking for the best scooter for a teenagers? Whilst they might be outgrowing many of their childhood toys, one thing is for sure, until they get their driver’s license, they still need a means of getting from A to B!

Scooters go beyond just being a toy in their teenage years to somewhat of a necessity if they want independence in getting about.
Buyer’s Guide for Teen Scooters

There are many factors that go into choosing the right scooter for teenagers. Whilst looks and speeds they can reach might be front of their mind, here’s what you really need to consider when choosing a scooter for teens:

Portability

Being portable is an essential element if your teen wishes to use their scooter to commute.

Look for scooters that can easily be folded, and have an easy method to be carried. Make sure your teen is capable of carrying the weight of the product.

Material & Durability

A scooter needs to last long enough to serve its purpose. Choose a scooter that is built well and is made of solid materials that will not easily scratch and dent with a little rough handling.

Often, the heavier a scooter, the more durable it is. However, if your teens want to do a few basic tricks, this will be more difficult with a heavy scooter.

You should also ask yourself what material is used in its construction. The scooter needs to be strong and capable of carrying a heavy load but still be light enough to carry when necessary.

Your younger tween or teen in middle school is likely to need something quite different to you 18 year-old with hulking muscles off to college.

The best kind of materials for scooters is tough aluminum alloy and steel. This will be long-lasting, and it will also be able to withstand a bit of use.

Electric Or Manual

Electric scooters are more expensive than normal scooters, and they are better for longer journeys and commuting. The purpose of your teenager’s need for a scooter will help decide whether an electric scooter is suitable or not.

Electric scooters can be great, but sometimes they’re not necessary, especially for the price. You can’t do tricks on electric scooters, either.

Weight Capacity

Think about the weight of the person that will be riding the scooter. Teenagers are halfway between adults and children, so you need a scooter that will be able to withstand a lot of weight; I think you already know just how quickly they can grow!

Look for scooters with an adjustable handle height too, as teenagers can be tall, as well as heavy!

Wheels

The wheels are a vital part of a scooter. If the wheels are not smooth, then it is going to be an unpleasant experience no matter how skilled your teenager is at riding.

It can be difficult to know if the wheels of a scooter are good quality. Look out for rubber or hard plastic wheels, as these have more traction and are more durable than metal wheels.

The wheels should have a bit of leeway, as well suspension for different terrains.

Generally speaking, the larger the wheel, the smoother the ride. However, larger wheels will add to your overall dimensions and weight. If you’re looking for something light and portable, you may have to compromise a little on wheel size and ride comfort.

Safety

Safety should always be prioritized. Your teen should be using helmets, elbow pads and other protection while riding a scooter, but the features of the scooter itself are important, too.

Good quality, safe scooters tend to have adjustable height, good supportive handles, suspension, great tires, and a nice sturdy build. Added features to look for include non-slip grip on the deck.

An essential safety feature is good breaks. Most teen/adult scooters will have front and rear “V breaks” similar to a bike. If your teen will be hitting hills regularly, we’d suggest more advanced and powerful disc brakes.

What Does A Scooter Consist Of?

Scooters are built with several essential components.

Scooter Decks/Foot boards: The board that you stand on.

Bars: The T shaped bar that connects the body to the handles.

Forks: The bar to wheel connection.

Bearings: The bearings are near the wheels, and they help the movement and stabilization.

Handlebar Grips: This is what you hold when using the scooter.

Clamps: Clamps help hold all the parts together.

Wheels: To help the scooter move. Some have two, some have four.

Scooter Grips: The grips also help scooters stay together.

Brakes: The brake helps stop the scooter.

Benefits Of Buying A Scooter

There are many reasons for buying a scooter, especially for teenagers. You can use your scooter to commute to work, school, or the city.

This is a lot cheaper, especially if you do not have an electric scooter. Electric scooters are perfect for those who do not want to put in as much effort, as the motor will help you along your way.

Additionally, you can do tricks and fun stuff with a manual scooter, which is exactly how every teen wants to spend their time!

Teen Scooters Frequently Asked Questions

At What Age Can A Child Use A Scooter?

A child can use a 2-wheel scooter from the age of around six and upwards. Before this age, there are smaller, safer scooters with more wheels and a stable upright body. It is not recommended for children younger than 8 to use the scooters in this list.

What’s The Difference Between A Stunt Scooter And A Normal Scooter?

Stunt scooters are designed for stunts and tricks. They usually have a higher top speed, longer handlebars, wider front forks, and bigger wheels. These scooters are made for people who like doing tricks and stunts while riding them. The teen scooters in our list are for commuting, not for doing stunts!

Can Electric Scooters Go Uphill?

Yes, electric scooters can go up hills. However, this will drain the charge, and they cannot go too fast.
